Over at Slashdot, Zonk wasn’t too impressed with Shadowrun. He said:
“The phrase ‘Counter-strike with elves’ pretty much sums it up.”
It’s too bad he said that, because the game has so much more to offer. The game is very deep and he couldn’t see it.

The game is NOT deep. When you get tired of Gears of War, GRAW, Halo III, Unreal Tournament 3, or some Wii game, maybe checking out Shadowrun would make for an interesting distraction. But, it’s just not *that* good.
I got to check it out during CES, and I wasn’t thrilled. Back in the day, we had demons tossing fireballs at us. Now a game with magic comes along, and we can’t even throw a high speed fireball back. Why? No offensive magic. Lame.
The premise Shadowrun was based on has a deep rich history, variety of colorful storylines and little in common with this FPS titled Shadowrun. For so many reasons, I’m not going to waste my time on it until there’s absolutely nothing else to play. And, I doubt that’ll happen.
However, if the devs at FASA miraculously get support for future development, and they follow up with more depth to the gameplay, and offensive magic, and perhaps a little side entertainment with a single player game.. they might get my interest.
So yeah, right now.. it has a few interesting tricks that don’t really justify its purchase.
Maybe when it hits the bargain bin….
